"Hello everybody, I'm Bill Mercer, and welcome to World Class Championship Sports! Tonight, Kerry Von Erich, the NWA American Heavyweight champion, defends his title against archrival Christopher Adams! But, also on the line! Chris Adams’ WCCW Television title in the very same match! Two titles, one bout! All that, and more exciting action, such as Billy Jack Haynes, in action against Kelly Kiniski, but first, it’s the Fabulous Freebirds in wild tag team action, as they go up against the new hot young things in World Class tag team action, the Rock N’ Roll Express!"
In a good match which got the show off to a strong start with a wild brawl, The Fabulous Freebirds defeated Rock N' Roll Express in 11:04 when Michael Hayes pinned Robert Gibson with a handful of tights! The Freebirds played up their reputation in Texas as two of the most hated (but perhaps secretly beloved) villains in World Class history. The Rock N' Roll Express, on the other hand, are new the territory and after finding massive success in Memphis, have come down to World Class to give it their all and take their shot at the NWA American Tag Team titles. But, do the Freebirds have the same intentions in mind? Whatever the goals may be for both teams, the Freebirds walk out of this one with the bragging rights moving forward, shameless as they may be.
Bill Mercer is back to talk briefly about the video he is about to play next. In front of the World Class logo, Mercer is excited to share with the viewers a video-taped message from the returning David Von Erich, for all the way in Japan!
He cuts to the video and David is shown wearing his typical rancher-garb and patented cowboy hat, looking a bit more aged since last on WCCW television. He’s sitting in a nice office, across the desk, looking right into the camera. His enthusiasm is high as David proclaims his excitement to be returning home to the great state of Texas, where he can come back and show the fans all he has learned in his adventures from overseas! He says he has never felt better in the ring, but nothing will be better than returning home to be with his mother, father, and all of his brothers. He once again commits to being at the January Star Wars event, and can’t wait to see everyone once again! Until then, as they say in the land of the rising sun… ”Sayonara!”
Back in front of the World Class banner, Bill Mercer is excited to reveal to the fans that at the January Star Wars event, David Von Erich will be given a big Texas homecoming celebration to welcome his return to World Class wrestling! He calls it the biggest night in Texas wrestling history and expresses his excitement to be sharing such a wonderful moment, the return of David, with all of the World Class fans!
In a decent match, Billy Jack Haynes defeated Kelly Kiniski in 8:10 by submission after locking in the Full Nelson! Billy Jack, since debuting in World Class, continues to find success both in the ring and in reaction from the fans.
Viewers are taken back to Bill Mercer, now standing alongside Jake Roberts. Roberts looks devilishly into the camera as he calls the Von Erichs all weak mentally and physically, and they all need their brother David to come back and save them from their immenent demise. Mercer quickly turns attention to the black briefcase in Jake's left hand. He asks Roberts why he has this briefcase in his possession all of the time now, and wants to know just what's inside. He reminds Jake and the viewers that it's the same briefcase which he used to interfere in the main event tag team match last week. Jake reveals the secret...
"This baby right here? Oh, this is my ticket out! It's my ticket out of this town! Out of this life! My ticket to paradise, Bill... You see, two weeks ago this briefcase came across my possession. Now I'm not going to divulge all the details here on syndicated television, but what I will tell you is this briefcase found its way to me with a note on it. That note said that inside this briefcase is two-hundred fifty thousand dollars! Yeah... that's right? You hear me okay, Bill? Two hundred and fifty THOUSAND dollars... And ALL of that money is mine if I can deliver on one thing! Destroy the Von Erich family and spoil the return of David Von Erich!"
"Destroy the Von Erichs!? Two hundred and fifty thousand dollars!? This sounds like a whole bunch of horse manure if you ask me!" Bill Mercer exclaimed.
"Ha! Well it's the truth Bill, you hear me? And trust me, I've tried to open this puppy up! I've tried everything! But it's virtually impenetrable! The only way to get what's mine is to do the deed! And once the deed is done, Jake "The Snake" Roberts is about to become a rich, rich man..."
Laughing maniacally, Jake walks off screen as Bill continues to question the validity of Jake's proclaimation... And the next question is, just who is paying Jake off to destroy the Von Erich family?
In a bout that had great heat and good wrestling, Kerry Von Erich defeated Chris Adams in 18:16 by submission with an Iron Claw after botched interference by Adams’ manager, Gary Hart! It was a hard fought bout for both men, with the crowd decidely behind Kerry the entire way. After the match, Adams was visibly upset with Hart, who tried to explain himself in the wake of the bell toll. Kerry successfully defends his NWA American Heavyweight title, and also wins the WCCW Television championship from Chris Adams!
In a decent match, Rock N' Roll Express defeated Hercules Hernandez and Rick Rude in 9:39 when Ricky Morton pinned Rick Rude with a fast roll-up.
In a good match and what you could call a wild brawl, Terry Gordy defeated Iceman King Parsons in 13:36 by pinfall with an Oriental Spike aftter a distraction by his tag team partner, Michael Hayes!
In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Jake Roberts defeated Jose Lothario by pinfall, illegally using the ropes for leverage. This was meant to calm the crowd but was poorly placed since the crowd hadn't peaked.
In a bout that had great wrestling and good heat, Gino Hernandez and Randy Savage defeated Billy Jack Haynes and Kerry Von Erich in 14:43 when Billy Jack Haynes submitted Randy Savage with a Full Nelson only for the previously unconscious referee David Manning to recover and reverse the decision because Billy Jack had been disqualified after claiming Haynes was the one who threw him over the top rope!
In a superb match, Kevin Von Erich defeated Michael Hayes in 20:03 by pinfall with a Diving Crossbody following botched interference by Terry Gordy!
