Week 3, January 1985

“Hello everybody, I’m Bill Mercer, and welcome to World Class Championship Sports! And boy do we have an exciting night for you folks all around Texas, and all around the world! In our main event, Kevin Von Erich takes on the man with the mysterious briefcase that holds two hundred and fifty thousand dollars, Jake “The Snake’ Roberts! But first, it will be hot six-man tag team action, as Kerry Von Erich joins with The Fantastics to take on the trio of Chris Adams and The Midnight Express! And after that, newcomer Billy Jack Haynes joins forces with another young up-and-comer, Mike Von Erich, as they battle it out against the team of Kelly Kiniski and One Man Gang! So let’s take you over now to the six man bout as action is already underway!”

Chris Adams and The Midnight Express versus Kerry Von Erich and The Fantastics

In a wild brawl that had good heat and decent wrestling, Chris Adams and The Midnight Express defeated Kerry Von Erich and The Fantastics in 12:22 when Dennis Condrey pinned Tommy Rogers after Jim Cornette and Gary Hart both interfered simultaneously! Despite his best efforts, Kerry looked great in this match, and was able to give Chris Adams a couple of big shots before he was undermined by the heel trio’s dirty tactics.

Bill Mercer is back in front of a WCCW banner when he reminds fans the situation regarding Jake "The Snake" Roberts and his notorious "indestructible" black briefcase. He highlights the idea that there is two hundred and fifty thousand dollars within the briefcase, and a mysterious man must hold the key. But who is that mystery man? And why does he want to destroy the Von Erichs? Mercer then clues fans in on the rumors floating around the World Class locker room and fans...

Is this all a ploy by "Playboy" Gary Hart, in his never-ending quest to remove the Von Erichs from prominence? Could it be one Skandor Akbar plotting his return with Devastation, Incorporated? Or is it someone from yonder, perhaps, such as Sheik Adnan Al-Kaissey, or the one and the only, Grand Wizard of Wrestling? Or, is it simply no one at all, and Jake Roberts is leading all of us on to believe his briefcase really does come from somebody important, and contains quite a large sum of money? He tells fans to continue tuning in to World Class Championship Wrestling, and to always make sure they get tickets to their nearest live show to never miss out on any exciting, and dramatic, World Class wrestling!

Returning from break, it's Bill Mercer, once again, now standing next to newcomer Randy Savage, who goes into detail to answer Mercer's simple question, "What brings Randy Savage to World Class Championship Wrestling"? Savage quickly refers to himself as, "The Macho Man", and says it's time for the Macho Man to broaden his wrestling horizons and the greatest horizon of them all is here in Texas, where the sun shines harder than anywhere else in the world! ”There's no better superstar to shine in Texas than the "Macho Man" Randy Savage, and soon enough, no fan of World Class wrestling will be able to deny that, Bill Mercer.. You dig what I’m saying, brother? Oh yeahhh…”

Billy Jack Haynes and Mike Von Erich versus Kelly Kiniski and One Man Gang

In an extremely short match, Billy Jack Haynes and Mike Von Erich defeated Kelly Kiniski and One Man Gang in 5:17 when Billy Jack Haynes submitted Kelly Kiniski with a Full Nelson!

WCCW announcer Bill Mercer takes viewers to the studio alongside “The Handsome Halfbreed” Gino Hernandez and Andrea the Lady Giant, asking Gino about the upcoming return of David Von Erich to World Class wrestling. Gino rips his shades off and looks deep into the camera, laying out a stern warning to the World Class faithful not to get their hopes up with the return of David, and promises to ruin his "Texas Homecoming"! He's questioned about why he would promote the idea of ruining the return of David Von Erich, and Gino laughes, telling Mercer he was the one that ran David out of town! And because he is the current NWA Texas Heavyweight champion, he knows David will want his old belt back, but there's nothing anyone can do to get in the way of "The Handsome Halfbreed" and his glorious rise in the world of professional wrestling! Mercer quickly closes out by mentioning Jake Roberts' mysterious briefcase, what does Gino know? Gino says he knows about the briefcase, but claims he doesn't know much about it, and gives the fans an honest hot take, revealing he is hesitant to take Jake at his word!

Jake Roberts versus Kevin Von Erich

In a superb storytelling match where both men showed great chemistry and it really showed in their performances, Kevin Von Erich defeated Jake Roberts in 17:55 by disqualification after Jake Roberts initiated a referee bump in order to use his mysterious briefcase to attack Kevin Von Erich! Fans are furious as the briefcase once again plays a role in the lives of the Von Erichs, but with same item in mind, Roberts doesn’t stop there…

After the bell, he continues laying down a beating to the eldest Von Erich brother, and as soon as fans really seem to be losing their lid, brothers Kerry and Mike Von Erich hit the ring to make the save!
